District: 5340

24-Apr-10

Time: 8 AM to Noon

Number of Volunteers Expected: 25

Location: 1880 Cabrillo Memorial Drive San Diego, CA 92106

The staff of the the Fort Rosecrans National Military Cemetery would deeply appreciate San Diego Rotary Club giving them a hand in restoring the grounds around certain grave sites that have experienced settling following reburials or subsequent burial of family members. The ground at these sites have sunk several inches, the grass is difficult to mow and the grave sites have become unsightly in the context of the pristine military cemetery grounds.

Rotary Club 33's Military Affairs Committee will sponsor a Grave Restoration Project at the Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery, 1880 Cabrillo Memorial Drive San Diego, CA 92106, at the end of Point Loma. Volunteers should follow signs to the Cemetery Administration Building which is a right turn from Cabrillo Memorial Drive. Work will begin at 08:30 and should be finished at about noon at which time the group will be provided with bag lunches on the cemetery grounds. For those interested in visiting the project and the working team, directions to the work site will be available at the Administration Office or by calling Mike Caruso's mobile phone at 619-846-0146 on the day of the project.
