The Auburn Gold Country Rotary Club has requested and received a list of needed repairs and updates at Rock Creek Elementary School. Rock Creek is our adopted school where our club donates new books to several grades and also has an annual Reading Program that has been in place for several years. This school is also one of our recipients of Dictionaries that is part of our Literacy Project. Our RAW Day Projects will be as Follows. #1 Remove eight liquid amber trees from the Kindergarten Playground. dispose of wood and debris and grind stumps below grade. #2 Build and fill two Sand Boxes in Kindergarten Playground. #3 Purchase two new tricycles for Kindergarten Playground. Specifications to be furnished by school district. #4 Paint lines and room numbers for the Kindergarten classes on the Playground to line up on at end of recess. #5 Paint tricycle path around the play structures for the Kindergarten students to follow. #6 Build a concrete sidewalk approximately 3 ft. x 22 ft. to provide a direct path to the library from the area outside room thirteen. #7 Recondition existing counter area in the main office through a two step process; (a) Remodel and resurface the front counter that restricts the view of the students and secretary, and shorten the front desk. (b) move cabinets and desk closer to the hallway and install carpet (provided) on the bare areas. All or most of the needed materials will be donated by local businesses or through donations from members. All work will be performed by GCR members except for cabinet work in the office. We plan on having between 18 and 22 members active on this project. We are also planning to have a Fellowship meal together either before and or after this project.
