The Southwest Washington fairgrounds host a series of important events that drive tourism and economic activity in the Twin Cities area of Chehalis & Centralia and Lewis county. The tragic floods of early December 2007 inundated the fairgrounds with 5 to 17 feet of floodwaters and caused $17 Million in damage to the fairgrounds and facilities. The Twin Cities Rotary Club volunteered to help with high priority projects. The first project, completed 041908, was to build 40 large flower pots. The smaller ones weighed 80 pounds empty and the larger ones 120 pounds empty. The flower pots are considered critical to brightening the image and feel of the fairgrounds. The Club has now committed to the next project, construction of a new gazebo (to replace one destroyed by the flood)used by police and emergency personnel during major events. we will be at the fairgrounds for many months to come. We choose the fairgrounds because they are so important for a broad variety of community activities and those activities from an important part of our local business.
