The Rochester Boys & Girls Club, which serves about 65 children, is the only club in Thurston County without a functional library. After visiting the location, West Olympia Rotary Club has designed and built bookshelves to fit the existing space and acquired more than 1,000 books through donations and purchases to fill them.
The new library facility will be dedicated in honor of William M. Johnson who was a Rochester resident, very active on its school board and a former President of the West Olympia Rotary Club (1987-88). Members of the Johnson family will be present for the dedication along with the Director of the Thurston County Boys & Girls Clubs, Joe Ingoglia, and a group of West Olympia Rotarians lead by President-Elect Dirk Havlak who has spearheaded the project.
